Well, I guess it’s kind of an affection thing mixed with a bit of misunderstanding. Like, the main character only likes one of the things, but the main lead thinks that maybe he means he likes all of them and is just too shy to say so. So he pulls out his credit card like, “I’ve got you, babe, don’t worry,” and does all that sort of thing.

I can’t really name any specific examples because there are loads of them. I’ve actually seen quite a few where it’s the other way round, with the main lead spending even more money on the main character. But anyway, I do find it quite cute because it’s a way of showing affection and love. It can be a bit over the top sometimes, or end up costing an absolutely ridiculous amount of money, but I suppose that’s part of the charm.

Why do I love it so bad, if only I could trade places with them 😭😭
