Stop making the side characters hotter than the ML, I am fighting for my life out here 🛑

I am suffering from terminal Second Lead Syndrome.

Why do authors insist on creating the most majestic, emotionally mature, perfect side character (usually a secretary or a childhood friend)... only to make the MC end up with the grumpy ML who doesn't even know how to text back?! (But truth is i like that type of ml🫣toxic in my gene)

The side character will literally cook, clean, respect boundaries, and remember the MC's favorite food. Meanwhile, the main ML just glares at a wall for 30 chapters. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
