I've read so many when the top is like 2-20 years younger. You just have to dig a little. But yeah the tops are often older tho
I guess because it is fiction 😂 like irl most of them aren’t assigned a position, most are versatile meaning they are up for being top or bottom… but it is smt I miss in the genre a lot, them switching because who would stick to one thing if they have the ability to try the other side out even once?

Yeah, I’ve noticed a lot of BL writers lean towards having the bottom be older than the top. Something to do with the power balance. Like, a lot of readers used to complain about how it felt icky to have the bottom be younger than the top because there was a power imbalance and it felt more predatory and pedo-like ig. So now, a lot of writers just have the bottom be older so that more readers don’t feel that ick factor or feel uncomfortable. It’s supposed to make the relationship feel more equal, I think. 🤔
