why can't male leads communicate instead of 🍇 their partners

What irritates me more is authors using rape as to make red flag character toxic. Prime example is flashlight now. (The ml was yellow at best) but now he's red flag. Author used rape to make him toxic and apparently to make season feel angst. Like there's other ways to make your character toxic without barely rape like miserable in love for example. Plus it's overused, we already have passion, roses&champagne, codename anastasia. (I read them all btw)

I’ve felt the same way. There are works that honestly seem more like pornography with a plot in the background, rather than a story that seeks to explore the nuances of a relationship—including the sexual aspect. Of course, I’m not saying they’re bad; I often read and enjoy them, but only for the immediate dopamine hit—they don’t offer anything beyond that. What really troubles me, however, is the trend of including abuse and rape; that is something I find truly inexcusable, both on the part of the creator and the readers who support it.

I think it’s more to showcase the lacking of restraint and a certain primitive or animalistic nature when it comes to those stories. The character obsesses, craves and wants to devour that person they love deeply and they can’t put it into words so they act on it. It’s like dimorphous expression (cute aggression) but on an EXTREME LEVEL.
