Why do we get emotionally attached to machines when they’re objectively just objects?
I don’t actually have an answer to this myself. I just find it quite interesting.
I’m actually pretty attached to certain objects I own. Some of my clothes have sentimental value to me, I have a little T-Rex plushie that I’ve had since I was about nine, and there are a few accessories that I probably wouldn’t want to replace even if I could.
And none of those things are objectively important. They’re just objects, really. But somehow, once you’ve had something for years or associate it with a certain period of your life, it starts to feel like it means something more.
So what do you think it is? Is it the object itself that we’re attached to, or the memories and feelings we’ve attached to it?
